Filling You In: Avengers #223

First off, this issue has one of the coolest darned cover you are ever going to see (by Ed Hannigan and Klaus Janson)...

The story was a killer example of nepotistic continuity, as writer David Michelinie uses this issue to continue a story from Marvel Team-Up, where Spider-Man and Ant-Man fought Taskmaster (Michelinie created both Ant-Man AND Taskmaster).

The issue has Clint Barton helping a friend who was being forced by Taskmaster to let him use her circus as a front for his super villain training academies. Clint runs into Scott Lang, visiting the circus with his daughter, Cassie.

The two heroes have to take on the Taskmaster, and the odds are not in their favor!!

Good, old-fashioned superhero story by Michelinie, with nice art by Greg LaRocque and Brett Breeding.

I always liked how Michelinie wrote Ant-Man and Taskmaster.

He really loved those characters, and the care showed in the work.

Good stuff.

VERY fun issue. EXCELLENT cover. In fact, that's what got me to buy the comic. When was the last time you said that?
