All 3 have part of the cover art overlapping the main title!
In all three, some kind of thin straight line is intersecting a main character (think in flat 2D)... bullet paths through Robin, background lines through Nightwing, and energy blasts through Magneto.
I'll go with the laser beam and bullet sight lines that appear on all 3 covers. (Or the Cheers line that none of these people have been in my kitchen!)
Going along with chasdom, the first one looks like it's in French Indochina, though I could be wrong.
So... I dunno. All three are set in current or past French territory?
All three have a character with two feet off the ground.
