Cover Theme Game for 10/5
Okay, homages was getting hard to find (outside of obvious ones), so new game!
This one is "Name the Cover Theme!"
All three covers will have something in common, whether it be a character, a creator, a style, a manner of presentment...something distinct (which means that, yes, each cover may, like "Have a superhero on it!" or "Each cover has a price on it!"...but that doesn't count...it has to be something quite distinct about these specific covers).
Tell me what it is!
1.
2.
3.
Good luck!

Is it forced perspective?
All 3 covers have a exclamation point on the cover?
I'm going with layered art... or something, I guess.
Is it Subitles attached to the main title?
Three things, two iffy...
first of all
Each cover has a character that's not looking straight ahead but is looking down towards the direction of his feet, even if the woman in the Titans' cover is looking at the hands choking her. Waverider clearly has his face pointed downward and if Booster Gold didn't have his eyes clinched shut in an expression of anguish they'd be looking down.
Secondly,
one notices a lack of distinct backgrounds in and on each cover. The Titans cover makes this iffy since we don't normally expect a background if the character in the foreground is underwater and the reader's POV is from above the surface. The JLQ cover is obviously surreal and artistic and thus nothing is happening behind Booster.
Thirdly,
From Waverider to drowning woman to Booster Gold we notice that no one is happy.
I believe they they all feature characters created by Dan Jurgens.
I was thinking a time theme, myself. Waverider came from 2001 (the future at the point of publication of that Superman issue), and Booster was from the 25th century. The JLQ issue even has the word "Time" on the front. Only problem is that I'm not sure how the Titans cover might fit this idea, so I could be way wrong here.
Lot of folks wearing gold armbands of some kind or another.
